The 5th Texas Co. E civilians would like to welcome you to the world of civilian Civil War living history.  Our civilians active in the hobby are happy to answer any questions you may have and to assist you in getting started in the hobby.

The civilians are a sub-unit of the organization known as the 5th Texas Co. E (Dixie Blues) Living History Organization.  The civilian branch of this organization provide education to the general public by accuately recreating the historic role of civilian men, women and children through their way of life, clothing, manners and etiquette.  We serve as a living memorial to the Southern men and women (civilians) who lived during the War Between the States.

Some of the women of the 5th have husbands and/or sons in the military division of this unit.  Some of the women don’t have either; they enjoy portraying the women who lived then, whether thei men were off to war or have been lost to the war.

Our civilian men have odne their time in the military and are now back on the homefront.  They protect us as the town sherriff or a business owner.  Some might be the post master or a banker or just a farmer.  Through the thirty-plus years that the 5th Texas Co. E has been around, whole families have been members.  Kids started reenacting at the age of just a few months up to the time that they get married and are now bringing up their kids as living historians.

As the 5th Texans of Co. E, we are not just living historians, we are one large family!

We invite all to visit us in the civilian areas at events that the unit attends.  Our schedule is listed under the “Calendar” icon.  Please join us by sharing our knowledge of our past with the kids of our future.
